Spam protection

[edit]

On my used page, spam protection is blocking a web adress with numbers. I can't even type it here or it will block it. That isn't spam, it's a web adress. Do you know what I can do about that? --CoastTOcoast533 03:26, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I don't know. it sounds like it's something particular to the spam protection program running on your computer, rather than anything to do with Wikipedia. -- Arwel 13:11, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Great music collection! - Gsgeorge 23:10, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Thank you! - CoastTOcoast533 14:19, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)

My gosh, that was today a year ago... --CoastTOcoast533 02:47, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah great music collection. I can just see you walking into Hot Topic wearing your linkin park shirt... Very "indie rock." HA

I don't listen to them anymore. It's my full collection, I'm not going to take it out because I don't like them anymore. --CoastTOcoast533 18:30, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Classic Rock

Hello. I was wondering if you would like to participate in my classic rock survey. I'm trying to find the most like classic rock song. There is more information on my user page. Hope you participate! RENTASTRAWBERRY FOR LET? röck 00:52, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My Userpage

[edit]

Thanks for the input, CoastToCoast, but it's my userpage, and I will handle it as I want. You will notice that the heading of that section is "articles to which I have contributed," and adding a link to MySpace certainly is a "contribution," at least in a technical sense. You will also note the disclaimer at the bottom which reads "Note: many edits are rather minor." Anyway, I don't really view the list as a means of self-glorification, saying "WOW, LOOK at all of the great work I have done on Wikipedia." Rather, the list is just an interesting way for viewers of my userpage to get some idea of what articles I have randomly come across and had sufficient interest in to make SOME type of edit on. I've even thought about explicitly stating as much, but decided that most of my fellow Wikipedians would realize that it is not their place to comment on how I decide to arrange my userpage - nor is it of any real significance to Wikipedia or the Wikipedia community. I do not understand why you are concerned enough about this issue to leave a message on my talk page. I am a beginning Wikipedian (member for two weeks). I make no claims of greatness. I am just here to have fun and make what contributions I can.

I don't think that making a posting like the one you did on my talk page contributes constructively to Wikipedia or anything else. If anything, your post runs contrary to the ideals of the Wikipedia community. I refer you to this page for a discussion of the appropriate way to treat two-week old Wikipedians.

Also, please see the PaloAlto talk page for a discussion of the MySpace link removal. Talk:Paloalto Dave Runger 22:09, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Favorite Songs

[edit]

My survey has changed. I am now continuing my mission for the best songs, but now I am accepting all genres. I'm giving you a chance to revote for your top ten favorite songs of any genres (not just classic rock which is still the best). I've made a executive decision to keep the existing survey results and just add on to that with the new entries. My feeling for doing this is because classic rock is the most influential genre in music currently so it should be expressed more in the survey. Thank you for contributing in the past, and hopefully in the future. ROCK ON. RENTASTRAWBERRY FOR LET? röck 03:33, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Daphne_Loves_Derby_-_Post_Post_EP.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Daphne_Loves_Derby_-_Post_Post_EP.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BigrTex 17:19, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Franz Ferdinand

[edit]

I noticed you've put in a lot of good work maintaining the state of the Franz Ferdinand (band) page. You may be interested in a dispute about the Franz Ferdinand page. It used to point to the disambiguation page - as, despite there being more searches for the band than the archduke, users will be interested in both topics. Unfortunately, it has recently been changing to point directly to the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria page. Could you read the discussion on the Talk:Franz Ferdinand page? I think your input would be of value. Thanks, Wardroad (talk) 15:26, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Come Now Sleep/Come Now, Sleep

[edit]

I don't have an opinion one way or t'other about whether or not there's a comma in the title. I do know, however, that you can't just take a page with a history and turn it into a redirect to a page you've only just started. What you have to do is move the page to the new title. Now, since you've done it the wrong way already and made things more complicated, I'll help you out here:

  1. Go to Come Now Sleep (which currently redirects to the original article) and paste {{db-move|Come Now, Sleep}} at the top of the page.
  2. Once that page is deleted by an admin, go to Come Now, Sleep and click the "move" tab at the top of the page and move the original (the one with the comma) article to your preferred version (sans comma).
Note: The admin who deletes Come Now Sleep may also take care of the move for you. In my experience they probably won't, but it's not uncommon.
  3. ?
  4. Profit

Please only move pages when you're absolutely sure in your heart of hearts. TheJazzDalek (talk) 02:59, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello CoastTOcoast533! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Joel Bernstein - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 18:51, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Joel Bernstein, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joel Bernstein. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Hello, CoastTOcoast533, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia!

I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you worked on, Daphne Loves Derby (album), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

It helps to explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the Help Desk. Thanks again for contributing! Mattg82 (talk) 18:56, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
